Only in Florida! Well maybe in a couple of other states, too. These vehicles will typically move at top speeds of 21 – 25 mph. Golf carts might be even slower. While these vehicles should not be using the roads on a regular basis, there are times they may be allowed on certain kinds of roads. Take extra care when approaching these slower vehicles and observe all rules for passing them (remember the “obstruction” rules). More importantly, realize that these vehicle, especially golf carts, may cross the street at any number of locations. Be aware when you are near golf courses, but know that people who live in densely populated communities might use the carts for transportation around the neighborhood.
